Liquid Lipsticks…..Worth the Hype?

Ok so if you’re like me and watch thousands of YouTube videos almost every day and walk into Sephora at least once a week, you will see that pretty much EVERY makeup powerhouse has come out with Liquid Lipsticks. Anastasia of Beverly Hills, Kat Von D, Stila, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Dose of Colors……I think you guys get the point lol….

Well I was hesitant about purchasing a liquid lipstick mainly because I was happy with using my lip liners to give me a perfect matte pouty lip, because lets be honest, no one likes change. Especially when you find the perfect lip liner in the perfect color…who wants to change that?

Well…..I have changed my tune. I AM A BELIEVER! In my October ipsy! glam bag, they sent me a mini liquid lipstick from theBalm Cosmetics and once I tried it, I was hooked. The little trial bottle they sent me was from their Meet Matt(e) Hughes collection, which A. I think is literally is the cutest name for products and B. has eight AMAZING shades to choose from. The one I was sent is called Committed, and it is the perfect matte nude for the fall! SHOUTOUT TO IPSY FOR THE COUPON! Since they sent me the trial size, I got a 20% coupon if I purchased something from theBalm….Obviously I went online and got it for $16 and i LOVE IT! It has replaced my Mac Spice lip pencil and is honestly the perfect nude! ** GET COMMITTED **

After I purchased theBalm Liquid Lipstick, I felt a little more adventourous and went onto Sephora.com and decided to try out Kat Von D’s liquid lipsticks. I wanted to get Lolita, but it has been sold out for 1350139983 days….so instead of opting for a safe color that I already have, I stepped out of the comfort zone and went for the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bauhau5. Not exactly sure why it is called that color, but it is beautiful deep raspberry color, and I loved the swatch online and thought it would be a great color for the fall/winter months.  **GET BAUHAU5 **

The final liquid lipstick that I went out and purchased was from MorpheBrushes.com and it was one of Jeffree Star’s velour liquid lipsticks. I have no idea how/where I found him but I have been obsessed with him for years. He is so different and just does his own thing, and that is probably one of the reasons why I love him. Another reason why I loved purchasing one of his products is that his lipsticks are 100% vegan and cruelty free, I love and respect that! The color I decided to purchase was Masochist, mainly because I thought it was the PERFECT liquid red lip. The description for the color is “the color of crushed berries on ice”, and that is honestly what it is. When I finally got to swatch it, it looked better than my favorite lip pencil from Nars….which is HUGE because that has been my ALL TIME red lip! ** GET MASOCHIST **

It is SO WORTH the hype! I love these liquid lipsticks mainly because I am obsessed with matte lips. I think matte lips just take your look up a few notches and give you a little more of an edge. I also think it accentuates the natural line of your lips, and lets be honest, every woman wants a good pouty lip! I also like that you can build up the color to the perfect opacaity that you want. And if you really want to get creative, you could even do an ombre effect with the liquid lipsticks for a night out. There are so many ways you can wear a liquid lip, and also so many different price points that work for your budget. It is honestly all about finding the colors that work for you and that you’re comfortable with! Makeup is fun, and should always be!
